The Mechanism of Strattera
Stimulants are drugs that work by increasing the amount of dopamine in the brain. This dopamine is known as a neurotransmitter, which can play a role in regulating attention, concentration, memory, and mood. Strattera works by blocking the effects of a particular chemical called norepinephrine. This dopamine in the brain increases levels of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine, which helps to regulate attention and reduce the frequency of tasks, while also improving concentration.
Atomoxetine HCL, commonly known by its brand name Strattera, is a non-stimulant medication prescribed to treat Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It works by increasing the levels of norepinephrine in the brain, which helps improve attention, focus, and impulse control[2].
